Shandaken Democrats Welcome You

#ShandakenStrong

Home: Welcome

Greetings

Our role as the official, local organization of a national political party is to try and make sure that our town is run as well as it can be run.

Part of that means finding and helping the best possible people to serve in our town, county, and regional elected offices. Another part of that job is to support those officials by advocating for and developing the best possible public policy options we can.

We believe an informed and engaged civic life holds our best chances for a beautiful tomorrow.

Thanks for visiting our site. We hope you’ll check in semi-regularly with us.

Many New Yorkers can register online.

If you don't qualify for online registration, or prefer in person, you can reach out to the Ulster County Board of Elections at:

845-334-5470.

If you want to vote in the primaries (selecting our party's candidates) don't forget to indicate Democrat when registering!

Registration FAQ’s are available on the county board of elections website.

If you've recently here moved, register ASAP.

Election Day Voting

Our town's local polling places are the firehouses in Phoenicia, Mt. Tremper, and Pine Hill, as well as at the Town Hall in Shandaken.

These are for primary and general election day voting only. You are assigned one polling place based on the address you registered at.

For information on your polling place visit the Ulster County Board of elections Website.

Elections for Board of Education or any Special District that holds independent elections almost always will have different voting locations. You can check those institutions websites for details.

In-Person Early Voting

In New York State we have no-excuse early voting. This means all registered voters are allowed to vote in person for the two weeks leading up to any Primary or General Election. Importantly, early voting closes two days before any Primary or General Election day. The times and locations of early voting sites may vary from election to election. The most recent Ulster County information can be found here.

Absentee Voting  (Mail-in Voting)

In New York State absentee ballots (a.k.a. mail-in ballots) must be requested and require the voter to have an eligible excuse. The dates and details around these ballots can change from election to election, but the most recent information for Ulster County can be found here.
